While researching, I came across the concept art company Atomhawk. Since 2009 they have been working with movie studios, game developers and product designers to help 'realise their visions and bring ideas to life through world class visual development and design.'
This is the kind of place I would like to end up one day, so I looked into one of their projects to use in mine. This is when I came across Realm.
The Realm is set in the far distant future, when the world has been reclaimed by nature. Once proud cities now lay abandoned – overgrown with strange plants and twisted vines. Magic and mysticism have returned to earth and there are strange creatures lurking in the forests.
In The Realm, the age of technology (our current time) has come to an end, through an event that changed the world.
interesting concept-
This is something I briefly something I experimented with in my last project- turning real places into fantasy locations and aging environments by hundreds of years. I would like to explore this idea further- so this is a good reference!
the concept art is beautiful and really encapsulates the story of a young girl and an old being. Her contrasting colours to the rest of the world is a statement of her uniqueness and tells me she is going to bring something new to their story. The giants appearance makes it blend into the surroundings, suggesting that he has been around a long time and forgotten.
Also, because it is set in Newcastle, using my first hand images will be ideal.
